The Zoo!

Last Saturday it finally cooled off from the miserable heat wave that we were experiencing here in Vienna. Therefore, we finally were able to get out and do some sightseeing! We headed to the Schonbrunn Palace. This is the former imperial 1,441-room Rocco summer residence located in Vienna.

They didn't allow any pictures from the inside, but it was BEAUTIFUL!! Since the Schonbrunn Palace estate is so large we purchased the Gold pass that allows us to do everything below within a year of buying the ticket:

  • Grand Tour with audioguide of the Palace

  •

  • Crown Prince Garden*: Take a stroll under the shay pergola walks

  • Gloriette with viewing terrace*: Fantastic panoramic view of Vienna

  • Maze & Labyrinth*: Fun, games and relaxion for children and adults

  • Desert Experience House: Meet the masters at the art of survival

  • Zoo: Entry of the world's oldest zoo

  •

  • Carriage Museum**: Carriages and sleds from the carriage collection

  • Court Bakery Schönbrunn*: Apple Strudel Show with free portion and recipe to take back home

  •

However, we only were able to make it to the Palace tour, the Desert Experience House, and the Zoo. I'm super excited to see the rest (especially the Apple Strudel Show!!!!)

The Palace is gigantic, especially since it was JUST their summer home!

After the tour we took a nice stroll over to the Tiergarten area where the Desert House and Zoo are located.
On the walkway to the Zoo.

The Gardens are BEAUTIFUL!! I can imagine my Father-in-law loving this area!

Justin and Brayden LOVED the Desert House with all the snakes...I didn't care for it as much.

The Zoo was AWESOME!! The best Zoo I've ever been to, and it was pretty cool that it's the oldest one in the World! There were cafes and beer gardens everywhere to relax while enjoying the animals.

My Little Money with the Monkeys!

There is a Bear swinging in the background!

    Testing out the Meerkat hole.

All in all a great Saturday. I can't wait to go back and see the rest of what the Palace has to offer!
