My good friend Melissa came to visit us in Vienna, and she wanted to take off to do a day trip somewhere close. We decided on Budapest since it was only a 2 1/2 hour drive away. We roped Mackenzie (one of my friends on the team) into coming along, and away we went sans Brayden. He had a day with the boys.
It's so neat that within two hours you can be in a completely different country, that speaks a whole different language, and even uses a different currency. That's when I really realize how much German I actually know.
We first did the touristy stuff...castles, parliaments, churches, etc.
Below are pictures of some of the spots we were at...
Not that those things aren't neat and interesting, but I was looking for a nice relaxing day with the girls. We found a spa when Googling Budapest the night before that looked amazing! And boy did this Mama need some work! It is called the Szechenyi Thermal bath. It is one of the largest spa complexes in all of Europe. It dates back to 1881!

When we arrived we decided to do a fish pedicure. This is something out of my norm, but we thought it would be a great experience to try together. At first it tickled so much, but then you get used to the little fish eating away at the dead skin on your feet. It makes your feet feel super soft!

We then headed to the rooftop cabana area to get a massage. It was amazing! They follow the massage up with a huge fresh bowl of fruit with some tea to enjoy in the large sofas, terraces, and hammocks that they have.

From there we finally headed to the thermal pools. There were so many to choose from! We decided to try a couple, then we headed outside since the view was amazing. The air temperature was chilly, about 50 degrees, but the water was as warm as a hot tub.

Mackenzie and I tested out some saunas, and when we were feeling nice and relaxed, we headed back to Vienna.

I had no idea what to think of Budapest, but it was beautiful and amazing! I would highly recommend it, and would love to go back!
