I always love going to the gym in a new place. It is always interesting to see what exercises are popular, what machines people are using, and what people are wearing for exercise apparel. I felt like I had seen it all after living in Europe, but my new experience at the Japanese gym was like one I have never witnessed. How exciting to see these machines that I had never seen before, and was shocked that they were loving the machines that we loved back in the....1950's.
Remember these?
When I saw them at the gym (my gym houses two) I could not wait to see someone use it. To my excitement they are one of the most popular machines at the gym right behind the treadmill. I am not sure if they have gotten the memo that vibrating your body does not equal losing fat, but hey it's fun to watch!
Now the next two machines where completely new to me. I had never laid eyes on such machines! Growing up we had horses, and I loved riding my Arabian, Charlie, however I never thought of it as a cardio workout...until now. Introducing the Power Rider. It even has stirrups (no spurs needed)! You are able to turn up your simi-horse's speed as high as you wish...just hold on for dear life! Giddyup!
The next machine I had to look up through google what it actually does. When I found a picture of it, they called it "The Anti-Cellulite and Weight Loss Machine". It basically looks like a large body massager. With a flick of a switch the rollers spin around as you put your feet, legs, basically any part of your body you wish on it to be massaged...or to rid of your cellulite. I guess this may come in handy after the baby is born!
I loved my new experience at the gym, and I felt as much as I was staring at these new gems of machines, I was getting stared at just as much. Not only am I about on average 10 inches taller than most women over here. I am as hugely pregnant, about the size of a whale. Not to mention I have blonde hair and hazel eyes...I don't blend in very good. OH WELL!
All in all it was a great first Japanese gym experience!
