3D Ultrasound

Today Justin and I got to experience a pretty amazing thing. We got to see a 3-D ultrasound of our baby boy. It is pretty crazy how they are able to get such amazing images of the baby.

When I came to Japan I had only had one American ultrasound done at 20 weeks, and I wouldn't have had another unless the doctors thought something was in need of being checked.  When we found out that we were pregnant we were in Germany, and they had given us two ultrasounds the first two months I was pregnant. We would have had an ultrasound every checkup had we stayed in Germany.  We have been in Japan going on three weeks and we have had two normal ultrasounds, and one 3-D ultrasound. From the sound of it, I will be getting an ultrasound every appointment from here on out. It is crazy how different health care has been in the three countries that we have been seeing prenatal doctors at. The ultrasounds are just one of the big differences.

Our boy seemed pretty bashful doing our 3-D ultrasound which was kind of dissapointing that we didn't get a clear shot of his face, but we have been super lucky that he has been very healthy thus far. Our clinic not only gave us some actual pictures from the session, but also a video showing the entire 3-D session as well as what the birth center/clinic looks like. I have attached the video below. I have to say that we feel pretty spoiled at our appointments!

I am very excited for next weeks appointment since we get to meet our midwife and go over details of our stay when our little boy is born. It sounds as though we stay in the birth center for 3-5 days. Which is another huge difference from the United States.
